Once or twice a year, the school community area experiences extreme food shortages. These times arise for various reasons. They can come from periods of drought, or from too much rain that have ruined crops. Sometimes insects can decimate young plants from the start. Even during years of abundant and healthy crops, food can be scarce until harvest season. Your donations help bridge these gaps or other times when food is needed for student meals.
The spring rains were significantly delayed this year, which caused the crop planting to be delayed as well. Godwill anticipated a serious food shortage to hit the community earlier than usual. Thank you to the donors who stepped in immediately to provide funding to avoid tragic consequences such as malnutrition, sickness, or death. Unfortunately, one child died before aid could be received.
